I'm guilty as charged! I take too many photos of my kids. It's come to the point where they refuse to step foot into a studio, and I don't blame them! Studio sessions can be intimidating and worse, BORING! So, what's a mom to do? What's a photographer to do?
Well, we have to step out of our comfort zone and capture the kids in THEIR comfort zone!
My daughter is a Princess, this is fact. She believes it and thus it is law. The end. But hey, if it makes me a Queen, I'll take it! So, she and I spent the day playing dress up. Make-up (very little), curling iron, tiara, the whole she-bang. Take this girl outside, dressed up like the princess she believes she is and THIS is what you get:
Had I attempted to get this regal princess expression out of her in front of a backdrop in a studio with strobes pointed at her, I'd have been out of luck. So this proves you have to go to them, do what they love and make it FUN! Here's another from our Princess shoot:
